  Calling all Genea-Musings Fans: It's Saturday Night again — time for some more Genealogy Fun!! This week's challenge asks us to identify an event, milestone or turning point in our own life—or that of an ancestor—and consider how that event could become the basis for a family story. When I started thinking about the milestones in my own life, one year quickly rose to the top: 1974 . In May 1974, I was finishing college at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. On May 17, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in physical science education. The very next day, May 18, I married Michael Dean Philbrick at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Emporia. Thus, in the space of about 24 hours, I went from being Marcia Crawford, college student, to Marcia Philbrick, college graduate and married woman. But the changes didn't stop there. For this week's mission (should you decide to accept it), answer the question: 1)  It's story time - tell us how you met your spouse or significant other.  If you don't have one, tell us about how your parents met each other. It's the spring of 1971 and I'm a freshman at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. I've just started my new job as an assistant in the chemistry department. I worked two afternoons a week - Tuesdays and Thursday - in the storeroom. It was my job to check out and then check in glassware, thermometers and other supplies to the chemistry students. Most of my 'customers' were in Chemistry I or II students. Since dress codes for my sorority were still enforce, I was not only one of the few females working in the department, but I was the only one in a skirt. 

Forty-six years At the age of twenty, I was not looking forty-six years into my future. But it was forty-six years ago this Valentine's Day that I said yes - to Michael Philbrick. Our engagement was announced a year later - forty-five years ago. Miss Marcia Crawford whose engagement to Mr. Mi- chael Dean Philbrick has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Crawford, 2314 West Twenty-first Ave. Miss Crawford is a snior stu- dent at Kansas Stte Teachers College, where she is major- ing in chemistry and is a mem- ber of Delta Zeta social sorori- ety. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. E. O. Briles, 609 West Fifth Ave. Mr. Philbrick, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Philbrick of Phillipsburg, also is a senior student at KSTC. He is majoring in physical sci- ence.
